Since  Mexico Launched the SAE scheme, many Brazilians have visited the country using SAE. If you are Brazilian, you can do the same too. This article contains all the information you need about the scheme and how you can apply.

What Is SAE?

SAE is an electronic authorization system document that allows citizens of selected countries to enter Mexico for a short period. The approved countries under the visa free access scheme are

·         Brazil

·         Ukraine

·         Russia

·         Turkey

If you are Brazilian and have a passport to show, you can visit Mexico at any time of the year on short notice. You can simply submit a completed SAE application form online and have it approved quickly.

SAE is only allowed for air travelers, so Brazilians who plan to enter the country by land or sea much obtain a valid visa from the Mexican consulate in Rio or other satellite offices.

Travel Document For SAE

Mexico maintains friendly diplomatic relations with Brazil, so Brazilian nationals are one of the selected few who can enter the country without a valid Mexican visa unless they are coming in by land or sea. But there are certain documents you need to provide. We discuss them below.

Valid Brazilian Passport

You need the information in your passport to fill out the application. Also, when you arrive at the airport, immigration will check your valid passport to see if it is valid and the same information as the one you filled in the form. Only passports with a 6 months validity are accepted for SAE applications.

Mexican Tourist Card

SAE is the document that allows you to travel to Mexico without a visa, but a tourist card is what grants your stay. But to obtain a tourist card, you must show your printed SAE if you arrive by air. Note that those who already have their FMM tourist card since they applied for a conventional tourist consular visa don’t have to apply for SAE.

Electronic Print Out

Once your SAE application is approved, you should endeavor to print it out so you can show it as proof to the immigration officers upon arrival. In some cases, airlines may not even allow you to board the plane if they can’t verify your SAE status.

Proof of Funds

Another thing you must provide is proof of funds. The proof of funds can be a real estate certificate approved by a notary or a statement of account showing a minimum balance over the last 12 months or minimum monthly income over the last 6 months. This document is what will prove your financial capacity to survive on your own account during your stay in Mexico.
