The Remote Visa

This Mexico remote visa has been around for some time, but it has only gained more popularity in recent years as many more people work remotely compared to previous decades. As a remote worker with the right paperwork, you are eligible for it. Once you get it, you cannot only visit Mexico, and you can stay for a considerable period of time, work and visit fun spots in your city of choice.

The Digital Nomad Visa

Just to be clear, not every digital nomad needs to apply for this visa. Those who are from visa-free countries can apply for Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM), which is a short stay form that carries a 180-day validity. But if you are not from a visa-free country and not eligible for FMM, you may apply for a nomad visa.

Digital nomad visas is basically a temporary residency visa and is valid for one year. The good thing about this type of visa is that you can renew it yearly should you decide to stay back for a little while longer. But there are certain conditions attached to it, though.

For instance, you have to show proof that you earn your income from outside Mexico. Secondly, the government will consider you a taxable resident and tax your income if you stay in Mexico for more than 183 days. The nomad visa may be issued to active or passive income earners who work remotely.
